Sam started Starfish because he's tired of waiting for utilities, governments, and industry to deliver the ultra-reliable, clean power we deserve.

Sam has an award-winning, nearly two-decade career architecting, engineering, and managing innovative energy solutions. Prior to Starfish, Sam was a Principal with Integral Group, a leading deep green engineering firm, where he led the Advanced Energy practice. His background also includes time as Director of the Energy Division for the Washington, DC government's 30M sqft real estate portfolio. As a result of several groundbreaking energy projects, Sam was awarded the Climate Leadership Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2014.

Over the last three decades, Karl has been a public utility commissioner, utility executive, federal R&D executive, advocate, and attorney.

Previous roles have included: Commissioner with the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas; Vice President with Austin Energy; Director with AES Corporation; Executive Director of the Pace Energy and Climate Center; Managing Director with the Rocky Mountain Institute; Deputy Assistant Secretary with the US Department of Energy. Karl has a bachelor’s degree in management, a law degree, and two post-doctoral law degrees in military and environmental law.

The country's leading voice around energy data access, Michael knows all too well about utilities failing to meet customer expectations.

Michael served as Mission:data's Chief Technology Strategist from 2014-2016 and now as its President. On behalf of 30 leading clean energy companies, Michael fights to make sure utilities live up to their promises to let consumers have access to their own energy data. Previously, he co-founded Lucid in 2004, an energy management software company serving commercial building owners. He has over fifteen years of experience with building automation, energy management, metering, and public utility regulation.
